New York Times Online Access

Overview

The Inver Hills Library has purchased access to NYTimes.com and the NYTimes.com mobile app for all students, faculty, and staff.  Users will need to register through the library's New York Times (NYT) Online link once to set up an account.

• Students will receive an academic pass valid until December 31 of the graduation year they select.
• Faculty/Staff will receive an academic pass valid for 4 years, after which you will need to re-register through the library's New York Times (NYT) Online link

Setting Up Your Account

NEW Subscribers

1. Visit the library's New York Times (NYT) Online link to create an account
2. Click Create Account and follow the instructions.
3. If you encounter any error messages, please email edu@nytimes.com. 

EXISTING registered subscribers with an ACTIVE PAID NYT subscription

1. If you already have an active paid NYT subscription, you will first need to cancel your personal subscription.  You can do this by connecting with a chat agent or calling 1-866-273-3612.
2. After you cancel your paid account, you can follow the directions below to claim your complimentary subscription.

EXISTING registered subscribers that DO NOT have an active NYT subscription

1. Visit the library's New York Times (NYT) Online link to create an account.
2. Click on "Already have an account? 'Log In'" (found below "Create Account").
3. Input your email address and the same password created for your previous account.
4. If you encounter any error messages, please email edu@nytimes.com

Logging In

Once you have registered an account,

1. Visit NYTimes.com or download the NYTimes mobile app. 
2. Click the Log In button in the top right corner and sign in with the same email and password you used during registration. 

Additional New York Times Resources

In addition to unlimited news access on NYTimes.com, our subscription also includes access to

• New York Times in Education website and The Learning Network website. These sites provide 1,000 of resources published each year highlighting how The Times can be used to support curricular and extra-curricular learning, including faculty contributions, lesson plans, discussion questions, quizzes, current event conversations, writing curriculum, professional development webinars, and more. 
• Podcasts
• Archives (back to Sept. 1851)
• Newsletters on sports, tech, climate, lifestyle, culture, and much more.
• Live Events
• Spanish and Mandarin translated versions of NYTimes.com
• And so much more!

Access Restrictions

Our subscription does not include access to The Athletic, the NYT Cooking app, Premium Crosswords, or the New York Times Crossword apps.
