The Library at Inver Hills Community College serves the educational, cultural, and leisure-time needs of our campus community by providing a variety of print and non-print materials as well as information services. The Library staff strive to make the library a welcoming space that encourages a passion for life-long learning.

Library Location

The most convenient parking is the Liberal Arts Lot located to the east of the Library Building.

While you may return your items directly to the Library during open hours, there is also a drop-box located outside the Southeast entrance to the Library Building for after-hours returns.

What's in the Library?

What can I check out from the Library?  

Inver Hills Library has a collection of over 65,000 books, eBooks, reference materials, CDs, and DVDs.  The Library also subscribes to a number of print and electronic journals, magazines, and online databases.  

Here are the checkout periods for each type of item.  Some items can be renewed for a longer checkout period.

  • Books for 28 days (faculty and staff may have them for one semester)
  • Periodicals for 7 days (some exceptions)
  • Feature film DVDs for 7 days (Limit 10 DVDs)
  • CDs for 7 days (Limit 10 CDs)
  • Reserve materials for 2 hours, 4 hours, or overnight
  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) material loan periods are determined by the lending library

Reference books cannot be checked out, but users may photocopy needed information from them.  Instructors' audiovisual materials may not be checked out to students, but they may be viewed in the viewing room in the Library.

As a courtesy to all our users, we ask that individuals follow our circulation policies to ensure that materials are readily available to everyone.

 

What do I need to check out items?

Library items may be checked out by currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff.  Please obtain a student ID card from the soft lounge area, located on the upper level of the College Center across from the Enrollment Center. A library barcode is needed to check out library materials and study rooms.
