OER and Accessibility

Keep accessibility in mind when selecting OER.  Cartoon graphic of computer monitor with chat, file, and cloud symbols around it

  • Check the About or FAQ page of the OER repository to look for accessibility information.
  • Some repositories may also have a tag stating they are accessible.  This could be a site-wide accessibility statement or an accessibility statement on the individual resource.
  • Some repositories have an accessibility search limiter you can apply during your search.

Additionally, you can:

  • Look for an accessibility statement referring to WCAG 2.0 AA.
  • Search for accessibility in the item description or in the advanced search features.
  • Look for a VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Template)
  • Use Blackboard Ally through D2L to assess usability
